Battery Status Alerts

The WebApp provides a notification alert to your phone when it’s time to replace your SmartCollar™ battery. The notification disappears once it’s replaced.


Boundary Wire Alerts

An alert is sent if the boundary wire becomes disconnected or broken and will disappear once it’s repaired.


Power Loss Alerts

An alert is sent and the transmitter will begin running on PowerPak™ battery backup when the power goes out. This will disappear when the power is reconnected.


Collar Connectivity Alerts

If there's ever a problem with the connection between your SmartCollar and the Communication Portal, such as a dead battery, damage from chewing or being out of range, you'll receive an instant alert. This notification will be displayed until you reconnect to the Portal.


Transmitter Connectivity Alerts

With advanced monitoring capabilities, you'll receive instant alerts if there is a loss of connection between the Portal and the Transmitter for more than one hour. Various factors like power outages, lightning, or surge damage can disrupt the connection. The alert will disappear once it’s fixed.


Customizable Notifications

Customize which alerts you want ON and OFF. You can also choose if you want email notifications, text alerts, or both.

External Surge Protection functions by redirecting power surges and lightning from the boundary wire to the ground rod, effectively channeling them away from your home.   • What is a DogWatch SmartFence?

    The DogWatch SmartFence is a cutting-edge underground pet fencing system that ensures your dog stays within a designated area, while also keeping them away from restricted zones like swimming pools or gardens. Unlike traditional fences, the SmartFence operates through a radio signal, offering a discreet and efficient solution for pet containment. With its advanced communication component, the SmartFence goes beyond just boundary control. It keeps you informed at all times, sending text and email alerts in case of any breaks in the underground fence or when your pet's collar battery is running low. This proactive notification system allows you to address issues before your pet even realizes there's a problem. It also monitors your pet's activity, giving you insights into their behavior and testing of boundaries. Stay connected with your furry friend's movements and ensure their safety with this intelligent pet fencing system.


  • How does the SmartFence work?

    The SmartFence operates on the same principle as other hidden dog fences. To create the "fence," a boundary wire is buried a few inches underground around your property. This wire carries a harmless, low-level radio signal emitted from a transmitter installed in your house or garage. Equipped with a lightweight and waterproof receiver collar called the SmartCollar, your pet can effectively interact with the radio signal. As your pet approaches the buried wire, the receiver collar emits an audible warning signal, acting as an initial deterrent. If your pet continues to move closer to the boundary, the receiver collar delivers a mild yet entirely safe stimulation, commonly referred to as a "correction." Through a comprehensive training program, your pet learns to associate the warning signal with the boundary limits, ultimately understanding when to stop. This gradual conditioning helps your pet recognize and respect their designated fence boundaries, ensuring their safety and freedom within the predetermined area.


    Alongside the essential features of the SmartFence, it incorporates an innovative "communication portal" that connects to your home internet. With the integration of the communication portal, you gain real-time insights into the functionality of your hidden fence system. If any issues arise, such as a break in the boundary wire or a low battery in the receiver collar, the portal promptly detects these anomalies. In response, it triggers an alert that is sent directly to you. You also have the option to designate other individuals who will receive these alerts via text and/or email.


    Accessing information from the SmartFence portal is simple with our user-friendly WebApp, compatible with both mobile devices and desktop computers. By logging in to the WebApp, you can conveniently view the real-time status of your SmartFence and any relevant alerts.


  • How does my dog learn where the SmartFence boundary is?

    The training provided for the SmartFence is with a DogWatch Dealer, and it is the same as it is for our other hidden fences

  • Will the stimulation from the SmartCollar hurt my dog?

    Rest assured, the stimulation provided by the collar is designed to be unpleasant but does not pose any harm or danger to your pet. It can be likened to the sensation of a strong static shock, similar to what you might experience after walking across a carpet in your socks. While it may cause temporary discomfort, it does not cause any lasting harm.

  • Can I use a SmartFence if I do not have Internet?

    The containment component of the system can be used independently without requiring an internet connection. However, it's important to note that the communication aspects of the system, such as notification alerts, system settings, and activity tracking, rely on an internet connection to operate effectively. Without an internet connection, these features will not be available.

  • What will happen to my SmartFence if my Internet isn’t working?

    The containment component of your fence will continue to work without the Internet, but your communication features (notifications, alerts, activity tracking, systems settings, etc.) will not function until the Internet connection is restored.

  • Can I use a SmartFence if I do not have a smartphone?

    Yes, you can still receive your notifications and alerts through your SmartFence WebApp profile from a computer or other device.

  • Is the SmartFence WebApp available on both iPhone and Android devices?

    Yes, the SmartFence WebApp works on both iPhone and Android devices. It is not an “App” that you download in the App Store or Play Store. Instead, it is a progressive web app, accessible via any internet browser (Safari, Chrome, etc.). The WebApp can be saved to the home screen of your mobile device for easy access.   • What happens when my dog’s SmartCollar travels out of range of the Communication Portal?

    The DogWatch SmartCollar is thoughtfully designed to accommodate situations where your pet may venture beyond the transmission range of the SmartFence Communication Portal. It is perfectly normal for your pet to explore areas of the yard that might be outside the immediate communication range, and rest assured, our system accounts for this. When your dog returns within the communication range of the Portal, the SmartCollar will automatically reconnect and send updates accordingly. This ensures that you stay informed about your pet's location and activity, even if they temporarily stray beyond the transmission range.


  • What if I do not have an extra Ethernet port on my router?

    To utilize the SmartFence effectively, it is necessary to have an Ethernet port available. If you find that your router lacks sufficient ports, there is a simple solution. You can expand the number of ports on your router by connecting it to an Ethernet switch. You can typically find Ethernet switches at various retail stores, such as Staples® or Best Buy®.
