ELECTRONIC DOG TRAINING COLLARS

SideWalker® Leash Trainer

Walking shouldn’t be a drag

At DogWatch® we understand the challenges of leash walking with easily excitable dogs and the need for a dog training collar to correct this behavior. That's why we offer the SideWalker® Leash Trainer. This innovative training collar is designed to gently correct excessive leash pulling, enabling your dog to learn proper leash etiquette.

Overview

The SideWalker® makes walking your dog an enjoyable experience again by gently managing their tendency to pull on the leash.  Our dog training collar aids in teaching proper leash manners, thanks to its 'self-teaching' design, which emphasizes correct leash use and reduces pulling. It features five customizable levels, ranging from low to high, along with a vibration feature, allowing for tailored adjustment to suit your pet’s temperament. When your dog tugs on the leash, the collar's tension triggers the SideWalker® to emit either a vibration or a stimulation. This response intensifies progressively with continued pulling and resets once the dog ceases to pull.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the SideWalker® for?

The SideWalker® is more than a collar; it's a training tool to promote calm, enjoyable walks without the hassle of pulling.

  • How Does It Work?

The SideWalker® operates through a sensor located beneath the collar strap, which is activated by tension when the dog tugs on the leash or when you guide the dog. Upon activation, the device delivers either a vibration or a stimulation to the dog. The intensity should be adjusted to a level that merely diverts the dog from its pulling behavior. Typically, dogs quickly understand that the sensation ceases once they stop pulling.

  • How long will it take for my dog to stop pulling?

The time it takes for your dog to learn not to pull varies based on factors like your dog's temperament and the training environment. Most dogs start grasping the connection between their pulling and the collar's vibration/stimulation after a few activations. For some, the change in behavior is rapid, while for others, it's more gradual. If you don't see an improvement after a trial period, ensure the dog training collar fits well and the contact posts are the right size. If the fit is fine but your dog still pulls, try increasing the SideWalker® setting by one level.

  • How big does my dog need to be to use the SideWalker®?

If your dog weighs more than 6 pounds, the SideWalker® is safe and effective to use.

  • How old does my dog need to be to use the SideWalker®?

At DogWatch®, we suggest waiting to use a SideWalker® until they are 4-6 months old.

  • Will weather affect how the SideWalker® works?

The SideWalker® is engineered to function in temperatures ranging from -25°F to 125°F. However, if there's a swift and considerable shift in temperature, it may briefly affect some functionalities of the device until it adapts to the new temperature range.

Leash pulling can create a lot of tension, and not just in the leash. Loosen up with the SideWalker.
