ELECTRONIC DOG TRAINING COLLARS

Remote Dog Training Collars

Because dogs will be dogs

Dogs are enthusiastic, and love to run, jump, and dig. They may bark and sometimes they might not come when called. At times like these, having a reliable training device helps. That’s where our BigLeash® Remote Trainer comes in. Remote trainers offer a valuable tool for instructing and reinforcing training commands, as well as modifying unwanted behaviors in dogs.

Overview

Remote Trainers with onboard transmitters and receivers can be used to send a signal from a handheld transmitter to a receiver collar worn by your dog. The signal attracts the dog's attention, allowing you to teach and reinforce training commands as well as modify undesirable behaviors.

The BigLeash® is a safe and effective training tool with features that are more user-friendly than those of other remote trainers. It is the only remote trainer on the market with digital FM radio technology, as well as two-way ‘In-Touch'TM communication between the hand-held transmitter and the dog's receiver collar.

Some Frequently Asked Questions about the BigLeash® Trainer

  • What is a remote trainer?

Remote trainers offer the convenience of remote communication with your pet. When used correctly, they play a vital role in reinforcing commands and addressing unwanted behaviors in dogs. These devices enable precise timing and consistent training, which are crucial factors for achieving effective results in your dog's training journey.

  • How does a remote trainer work?

A remote training system consists of two primary components: a handheld transmitter and a receiver attached to the dog's collar. The transmitter allows you to send signals to the receiver. Depending on the training scenario, you have the option to choose from four different signals:

    1. Audible tone or vibration
    2. Brief stimulation* lasting for 1 second
    3. Continuous stimulation lasting up to 8 seconds

The signal emitted by the receiver collar captures your dog's attention and can divert their focus from unwanted behavior. By following your obedience command or ceasing the undesired behavior, your dog quickly learns to avoid or stop the tone or sensation delivered by the receiver collar.

*”Stimulation” may also be referred to as “correction”, “training stimulation” or “shock”

  • Will the stimulation signal hurt my dog?

The purpose of the stimulation from the collar is to divert your dog's attention by providing an unpleasant yet harmless sensation, similar to the static shock experienced when walking across a carpet in socks.

The BigLeash training collar offers a range of stimulation levels. Many dog trainers find that they can achieve the desired results using low-intensity stimulation, which may be barely noticeable to humans. Additionally, all BigLeash models include both an audible tone and a vibration signal. This allows you to train your dog to associate the audible tone or vibration with the training correction, gradually eliminating the need for stimulation altogether.

  • Which stimulation level is correct for my dog?

Begin by using the lowest stimulation level and gradually increase it if necessary. The ideal stimulation level is reached when your dog reacts with a subtle twitch, perk of the ears, or a response similar to a gentle tug on a leash. This indicates that you have found the appropriate level of stimulation for effective training.

  • What is the difference between “Brief” and “Continuous” stimulation?

Brief stimulation serves as a rapid "attention getter" that lasts for only a fraction of a second, regardless of how long you hold down the button. This type of stimulation has been likened to the sensation of a mosquito bite.

On the other hand, continuous stimulation involves a pulsating sensation that persists until you release the transmitter button, with a maximum duration of 8 seconds.

  • What kind of safety features does the S-15 BigLeash have?

Along with 15 training levels, audible and vibration modes, the BigLeash also offers the option to set the level to "0". This prevents any accidental signal transmission when the collar is on the dog but not in active use. Furthermore, the BigLeash is equipped with an automatic shut-off feature that restricts continuous stimulation to a maximum of 8 seconds.

  • What age should my dog be before I begin using a remote trainer?

The purpose of the stimulation from the collar is to divert your dog's attention by providing an unpleasant yet harmless sensation, similar to the static shock experienced when walking across a carpet in socks.
